Gaza’s dialysis crisis deepens under medicine shortages and border closures

The humanitarian plight of kidney failure patients in the Gaza Strip is worsening amid Israel’s continued closure of border crossings and its restrictions on travel for treatment outside the enclave.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The humanitarian plight of kidney failure patients in the Gaza Strip is worsening amid Israel’s continued closure of border crossings and its restrictions on travel for treatment outside the enclave.

Inside dialysis units, most notably at Shuhada al‑Aqsa Hospital in Deir al‑Balah, the depth of Gaza’s health crisis is stark, marked by acute shortages of medicines and essential supplies, alongside an insufficient number of equipment to sustain dialysis sessions. According to Al Jazeera Net, such conditions leave patients vulnerable to severe complications.

Dialysis units are also overwhelmed, taking in more patients daily than they can accommodate. The resulting disruption of treatment schedules has already led to fatalities among kidney patients in recent weeks.

This tragedy extends beyond statistics, manifesting in the daily suffering of patients who endure constant pain and sleeplessness amid chronic medicine shortages and no effective relief in sight.
